Facials at 128Faubourg / Sothys Flagship Review

I read on Facebook that 128Faubourg is now also known as Sothys Flagship.

I have had my facials here for almost 2 years so it seems befitting that I write a post about my experience.

Here’s a summary about the environment:

  • The staff carry themselves professionally and are neatly attired
  • Private – you get your own room
  • Ambience – low lights, warm and nice settings, clean wrap and towels, soothing music
  • These are the treatments I’ve tried:
    Correcting Treatment (RM 220)
For when I have pimples and congested skin, this is the least luxurious treatment because it involves extracting the gunk out of your face and use of tea tree / eucalyptus based mask to purify your skin so it could sting and tea tree never smells nice. The mist machine is unlike any that I’ve tried, it disperses the mist so evenly at just the right temperature.

    Brightening treatment (RM 260)
For when I have a lot of scars as a result of scratching my pimples ūüė¶
I’ve only tried this once and remember enjoying a face massage that went with the treatment. Don’t expect to see instant results, this is something you need to be doing consistently.

    Hydra lift treatment (RM260)
Perfect for those with dehydrated skin. My 2nd favourite treatment from Sothys. Expect to have amazingly supple, bouncy and hydrated skin after this treatment.

    Synergy Plus Treatment (RM290)
My favourite among the lot. I have dehydrated yet oily skin, sounds familiar? I am glad someone came up with this. It’s always frustrating when you are prescribed something really hydrating yet it makes your skin too oily. The aim of this treatment is to normalise your skin’s condition. There are 2 types of skin conditions that they target, the beautician will be the best person to recommend the right treatment for your face. This also includes 2 ampoules meaning more face massages!

I do think the prices are a bit on the high side so in order to make it more affordable, you have to get their packages and there are certain times of the year when you can get better offers. I am thinking open days as well but don’t expect bargain offers. You are usually going to pay the same amount for your treatments in the form of credits and get free eye treatments and some product offers thrown in. Although I would rather spend less on my facials seeing i go every month, you really get what you pay for. If only they had 6 months interest free right? Ok maybe it’s just me. Oh and first time customers get 30% off.

I have been to serenity skin therapy which uses Thalgo products but the facials at 128Faubourg are so much more luxurious including the overall setup. If anyone wants to share any other awesome places for facials do leave a comment.

They are located everywhere: 1 utama, great eastern mall, bangsar village 2, bangsar shopping centre, empire and publika.

Secrets de Sothys Eye Countour Serum

As part of my package renewal at 128faubourg I was entitled to spend my credits on some products. I picked this because I was in need of an eye cream and had nothing else to buy. My go to has always been SK-II’s skin signature eye cream but I wanted to try something new.

I love this a lot more than the hydrating eye cream which I did a short review of a year ago.

The cream is more fluid than SK-II and it’s not too overly rich but really hydrating. The sharp tip dispenser is really convenient as well. I haven’t seen any stark improvements around my eye area but it hasn’t made it any worse.

Downside? Expensive at rm300+ for 15ml and the packaging looks far from premium.

I should write a review about the facials at 128faubourg one day.

    Sothys products – my review

My experience with French skincare is limited to Darphin & Payot. I invested in a huge amount of Payot products but unfortunately it never yielded the results I wanted. Now I just stick to their body products.

Back to Sothys, I never paid much attention to the brand until I actually had my facial at 128 Faubourg.  After several visits, I signed up for a plan and purchased 3 products listed below and was delighted to receive a trial kit as well. The RRP for the prodcuts are RM800+.

Were they all things wonderful? My answer: The basics were decent but when it comes to the products that should’ve mattered, it didn’t work for me.

    1. Sothys Normalizing Beauty Milk (trial size x 2)
I liked this. It’s so nice and comfortable against the skin and it has a mildly refreshing sugar / lemongrass scent to it that reminds me of Payot Delicious Scrub. It’s not too oily to rinse off but I still double cleanse because it’s not effective on it’s own in removing makeup and there’s a little bit of residue left on your face if you don’t double cleanse.
    2. Sothys Normalizing Toner (trial size x 2 )
Nothing bad nor great about this. Scent is too overpowering but hasn’t had any negative effects on my skin and is hydrating
    3. Sothys Purifying Gel (trial size x 1)
Interesting gel-like texture, I enjoyed using this. A little goes a long way with cery little foam but does a decent job in cleansing the skin, it also doesn’t leave the skin feeling tight.
    4. Sothys Hydra Matte (trial size x 1)
If I were younger (think early 20s) and had oilier skin, this would have been a star product for me. I used this on top of the serum (item 5 below), it helped make my t-zone less oily, perfect light moisturizer.
    5. Sothys Hydroptimale THI3 serum (full size – discontinued)
I was told my skin was de-hydrated and needed intense hydration. I used this religiously for 2 months since I ran out of SK-II. It made my skin really oily and my forehead became insanely congested. The oil slick on my t-zone was horrid and was marginally better when I used Hydra Matte on top of the serum as opposed to normal moisturizer. Such a waste to not finish such an expensive product.
    6. Sothys Active Contour eye cream (full size)
I would have to apply multiple times because the first layer would make the skin around my eyes feel so tight. Not sure if it has anything to do with this but during the 2 months I was using this, I had several people comment on my dark eye circles.
    7. Sothys Desquacrem  (full size)
This is meant to rid your skin of impurities. I use it¬†occasionally¬†in the shower for my face and pits (it makes your pits fairer apparently). It’s easy enough to use and comforting against the skin but I haven’t seen any results from this, definitely nothing similar to those great reviews this product has received on MUA. I prefer my purifying balm from Darphin.
