Diptyque Vanille and Feuille de Lavande Candles

A year ago I received a tiny Feuille de Lavande candle as a gift during Nordstrom’s Anniversary event.

Today, I finally have the regular sized candle. So exciting it motivated me to blog about it.

It’s an unsuspecting and if you ever came across a display candle and sniffed it – you’d be unimpressed. The candle when taken out of the box has the strongest herbal lavender scent, it’s to die for.

I also got hold of Vanille which is a new release. I think it’s fated because I was walking around one day and randomly thought ‘I love eau duelle, I should buy the candle version of it’. At that time, there was none and a month later ‘Voila!’. It smells like a smoky vanilla out of the box.

Diptyque is available at Mecca Cosmetica in Australia for $78 and I think RM240 at Ken’s Apothecary or Isetan KLCC.

Jo Malone Limited Edition Rosemary & Rose Candle

1 month after purchasing the candle from Byredo I felt like I needed another one. It never ends does it? Having just the one candle can be boring!

I might have mentioned before that I wasn’t entirely impressed by my first candle which happened to be Orange Blossom but the throw of this candle is really good. It has also been burning really well! My only gripe is the packaging. I get that this is for charity but nothing about this candle aside from the scent reminds me of luxury. Shame because it would’ve been nice to have a candle lid!

More about this candle from jomalone.co.uk:

Inspired by a rambling English garden. Our Limited Edition Rose & Rosemary Charity Candle is abundant with roses, enlivened with invigorating thyme and deepened with rosemary and woody sage. Rustic and aromatic.

I enjoy getting a whiff of roses in between all that herb. It’s fairly invigorating!

I am not sure if they have this in Malaysia or Australia as I purchased mine from the US. It costs a bit more at USD75.

On a side note…I just saw pictures of Jo Malone’s Rain collection. Such beauties!!! I doubt I’d get it if it’s in a 100ml bottle though, it’s just too much of an investment.

Byredo Bibliotheque Candle

Scents are a big part of my life so I was itching to scent my room with a candle. Mecca Cosmetica has always been my go to for niche brands just because it’s close to me, easy and I had a Myer gift cart left over from my Virgin points.

There I was tossing between Diptyque (Lavender), Le Labo (Fleur D’oranger) and this. I agonized for over and hour because I wanted all of them but only had enough money for one and guess what? It took a 30 sec conversation where the SA said “If you have many Diptyques, go for something different”. So I came home with this.

I asked her for the most popular one, gave it a sniff and because I wanted to be spontaneous I just went with her suggestion. This is not a scent I would usually go for. It reminds me a lot of Agent Provocateur’s perfume. Very feminine, musky, sweet.

Notes from Byredo.com:

For AUD$98 you get 240g which is larger than your normal Jo Malone or Diptyque. Overall, I enjoy the scent. The throw is good and I always get a whiff of it when I walk by the candle. Problem is that it’s a tad sooty when you first light it and doesn’t burn as well as I’d like it to. So i’m in the middle mark and it’s starting to form a well which for candles is BAD BAD BAD. Pretty sure it’ll collapse really soon and render my candle useless.

Seda France candles – Bouganville Sapote

Something has reignited my passion for candles. I’m slowly going through my ‘treasure’ trove and rediscovering different scents every other day.

I first learnt about this range from Oprah, it’s affordable and smells great. What’s not to like? Don’t think this is available in Malaysia though.

Seda France Bon Chic Bouganville Sapote, bought circa 2010.

It’s a juicy peach scent with really good throw. My favourite from their range however, will always be Orange Flower Sumatra (perfection!) which I think has been discontinued 😦

October is voucher month

Isetan vouchers are pathetic because I can’t use them on cosmetics.  I’m just bitter  😉

I’ve visited the KLCC, Gardens and 1 utama outlet and still don’t know what to do with RM80 worth of vouchers. When I finally did, none of the shoes I wanted came in my size. Did someone else in size 9 sapu-ed all the shoes I wanted from the Gardens outlet?

I’ve just lit a candle – L’occitane’s candied fruit candle. I know it’s a candle but it’s the best thing for drawers! I love how nice it makes my manchester smell.

I also have RM40 worth of vouchers from metrojaya expiring soon. Can’t decide what brand to get though. I’ve gone through 3 tubs of sk-ii skin signature eye cream but I think I want to see if there’s anything better.

Currently testing from a deluxe sample: Dior Capture Totale Eyes Essential Serum.

From sephora.com

What a week

By tomorrow I would’ve clocked in over 60 hrs. I’m no stranger to working late nights but add the stress of having to deliver on top of the exhaustion – no thank you!

Time to lie down while the candle burns – vetyver by diptyque

Crabtree & Evelyn candles

I have a problem. When it comes to candles I have little or close to no self control. It has improved because I can no longer spend the way I do and I can agree to the fact that there are better things I could spend my money on like perfumes LOL. That wasn’t a good example.

So these days I conserve, I no longer burn candles every night. This candle has to be one of my favorites. When I first heard it would be discontinued I stocked up. Now I’m left with my very last.

The throw of the candle is excellent and the scent is of a powdery lavender.

If I run out, I could try the newer version retailing at RM98 but I have a feeling that it just won’t be the same.
